Do not fear! The Lumix ZS7 is every bit as good as its predecessor.

Advantages

It has a very efficient design and a very sturdy feel. You can even hold it with just one hand and still feel in control. It power-ups very quickly and you don’t have to worry about shutter delay. And it focuses extremely fast. I like that it has a button specifically to toggle into instant video mode. Another great feature is the 3 inch screen that is bight enough to display well, even in broad daylight. The menus are laid out very intelligently and even the quick menu has it’s own dedicated button. The lens is exceptional and the digital images it captures are in focus across the full zoom range. The lens is 25mm which works quite well for digital images taken indoors and gives it a wide angle feel. It has a handy twelve times optical magnification that is wonderful to have in such a small footprint. Once you get the hang of the zoom capability you can toggle between express images zoom or normal zoom with just the flick of a lever. Another wiz-bang feature is the Global Positioning System that is built into the camera that among other things allows you to automatically stamp the location and time into your digital images. This digital camera is also smart enough to know when when your subject matter is on the move so that it can raise the the camera speed to compensate for any motion blur that might occur. Along with that the camera exposure mudle is quite good and almost always detects the proper settings for the envronment you are in.

Disadvantages

As with most small sensor cameras the digital images taken with the Lumix ZS7 can sometimes have a little bit of digital noise in them. That being said, The digital images taken look even better than the images I am getting from the ZS3. Even when they are enlarged on my computer screen. Of course taking into consideration the model is using a 12 MegaPixel sensor this is not too surprising. I also wish there was a little more low light capability than what has been displayed.

All things considered Panasonic has made some great improvements to their latest digital camera, which is apprent in the digital images, and they have a definite winner in the ZS7.

 $250 is some kind of magic price point for digital cameras; you get the most action, the most features in this bracket, more so than any other price category. Ten years ago, every camera you could get at this price, came with an optical viewfinder and ran on dimestore batteries. Now they all have LCD screens, and are rechargeable. Back then, you got about 2 megapixels and 2X optical zoom on a perfectly respectable $250 digital camera. That’s what you get on a cell phone today.  Well, it is time again this year, to find out what new benchmarks are possible in the best digital camera prices and models.

 Pretty much, $250 now, can buy you a really intelligent model with 12 megapixels, HD video capture, and large 3-inch LCDs. Every brand, Panasonic, Canon, Sony’s CyberShot and Fuji, all throw in indispensable features like image stabilization, super wide-angle lenses, and face recognition. Of course every brand out there has its own take on how to mix these features in, and that’s where all the fun of it lies. The Lumix DMC-ZS3 has one of the best digital camera prices on the market – $225. It’s a camera, but it is also a camcorder. It has a dedicated record button for video recording, and it uses AVCHD Lite or Motion JPEG for it. The user interface is excellent, and so are the photos.

 Of all the cameras out there, the Lumix certainly gives you the best bang for your buck; the Samsung has a great user interface and great picture quality, and the Fuji F70EXR has great lowlight photography. For the best digital camera prices like these will bring you,  you get to choose. It’s a tossup between these three.

Suggestions to make a tour album.?

Hi all i have a few videos and a couple of hundred photos from a tour that we had gone. I would like to put them to gether and make it as an album with some effects and audio.

Any idea if there is any software that would cater my need. I would be happy if there are some existing templates and also some visual effects. Like the one we have in power point. i want it to make it as a movie so can you all give a hand to me in accomplishing this.

Or is it better for me to go for some good known softwares like flash or swish and have them incorporated in them ??

What can I do in a program like Photoshop to prepare a photo so it will photocopy properly?

Laser printers and inket printers can print photos perfectly, but if I then want to photocopy the printout, copy machines really ruin photos. I’ve tried a variety of copy machines at Kinko’s, Office Depot, etc, but I never get what looks like a photo. Surely, Photoshop or some other program can break the image into something that a copy machine can reproduce. I’ve tried converting to halftone pattern with no luck. Any ideas?

To get a decent copy of a photo, you have to use a photoscreen. Some photocopiers have this function built in, with other, especially self serve machines, you need to use a photoscreen sheet. This is a thin plastic sheet with has a subtle dot pattern on a transparent piece of plastic. You simply place the screen between the item to be copied and the copier glass. This majorly improves the look of the photo. Mind you, this will never be as high quality as an inkjet or laser printout, but it is passable. The quality should be about the same as a picture in a newspaper. Also if the photo is color, and you want a black and white photocopy. Chang it to a greyscale image in your software before printing. The procedure to do this varies from software package to software package, but is usually pretty easy to figure out.
